At the bus stop
Even in science, we accept that there are unknowns. Incredible truths in the universe that defy all logic and reasoning.
I do not accept the belief that there is an ultimate agency that predetermines our lives; I do not underplay the significance of coincidence and randomness in our world. But at the same time, I believe that when logic and reasoning defy us, there may be something unexplainable guiding us. Perhaps, fate.

This is probably the kind of parent I would be
Kid yelling: What are we doing after dinner? [Parents ignore him] What are we doing after dinner?!
Mom, calmly: Stop yelling, or I'll have to kill you.

Waisman chronicles
DK: Why can I never sneak up on you?
DO: Because of your heels.
DK: *pouty lips expression*
DO: You could take them off. You have cute feet.
DK: The PET people yell at me for walking barefoot around the genetics freezer etc.
DO: Wait. Good call. I think you're glowing.
DK: rad.

Whatever Lola Wants
Whatever Lola wants
Lola gets
And little man, little Lola wants you
Make up your mind to have no regrets
Recline yourself, resign yourself, you're through
I always get what I aim for
And your heart'n soul is what I came for
Whatever Lola wants
Lola gets,
Take off your coat
Don't you know you can't win?
You're no exception to the rule,
I'm irresistible, you fool, give in!...Give in!...Give in!
Hello, Joe
It's me
He hits so far
-hold on-that's you
Aaah-haaaaaa
Poo poo pa doop
Peek-a-boo
Yoo-hoo
I always get what I aim for
And you heart'n soul is what I came for
...Lola wants
...Lola gets
...You'll never win
I'm irresistible, you fool,
Give in...Give in...Give in.

I've heard every known jazz musician sing this, but I've learned that the music and words were written by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross for the musical play Damn Yankees. The song also appeared in the movie made from the play.

Bright and Shiny
Many people don't know that the human eye has a blind spot in its field of vision. There is a part of the world that we are literally blind to. The problem is, sometimes our blind spots shield us from things that really shouldn't be ignored. Sometimes our blind spots keep our lives bright and shiny.

The unreal is more powerful than the real, because nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it. because its only intangible ideas, concepts, beliefs, fantasies that last. stone crumbles. wood rots. people, well, they die. but things as fragile as a thought, a dream, a legend, they can go on and on. ~

Conductor: Excuse me, ladies and gentlemen, this is your conductor. It seems that many of you enjoy cramming into this train as if there is not another one directly behind us. But I understand, for I am a very sexy conductor, and everyone wants to be on my train. If you do, please stand clear of the doors. Thank you.

The Current Status of Clinical Psychology - Where Are We Now?
Man has produced many remarkable machines, some so complex that only relatively few people with considerable training can fully understand their workings. But man himself is far more complex than anything he has built. To understand him, to predict his behavior, or to change him in a predictable way is a challenging task of enormous magnitude. The attempt to understand man from a scientific point of view - that is, as an object of nature following natural laws - has only recently begun. Man is the object of his own scientific interest, and his personal experiences limit his ability for detached study.

International Bad Cat
U2 - Window In The Skies
Bono tends to trade in platitudes these days, but the savvy U2ers know just how to spin it, assembling a montage of music icons mouthing the words to "Window In The Skies," making even the band's rounded edges (and generic lyrics) larger than life, and larger than themselves. If you're not a U2 fan, they've thought of that, too; stick through it for footage of Jimi, Thom, Karen O, Elton, Marvin, Ray Charles, Nat King Cole, Bowie, Elvis, Plant, Flav, Sinatra, Kanye, Stevie, Kurt ... you get the picture.

Sophie Ellis Bextor - Catch You
Sterile
Theory is– the more you think like a doctor, the more you become like one, the better you get at remaining neutral, clinical, cut, suture, close and the harder it becomes to turn it off to stop thinking like a doctor and remember what it means to think like a human being.
